Dermal fillers are injectable gels that when laid under the skin help fill in wrinkles and folds, contour the face such as cheekbones and jawline and give volume such as the lips and the cheeks. Various fillers are available with different thickness and life spans, according to the result desired. The effects can also be enhanced with Botox and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for a better effect.
Dermal fillers are carried out after local anaesthetic cream is applied; however, some of the dermal fillers have local anaesthetic within the product. Since semi-permanent fillers are absorbed by the body, repeat treatments are necessary to maintain results. The time frame between repeat treatments depends on the product used and site treated, as well as individual factors such as the person’s age, lifestyle, skin type, and the degree of perfection required.
Fillers have a high safety profile, with discomfort, if any, being limited to redness, bruising, swelling, lumpiness and itching. These symptoms will resolve in a couple of days.
Lip augmentation
Lip augmentation with dermal fillers creates fuller, plumper lips, as well as reduces fine wrinkles around the mouth (smoker’s lines). They can correct any imperfections in symmetry, enhance the lip borders and brighten your smile. Augmentation can be performed for the upper or lower lip individually or both lips to maximize results. It is up to you whether you want to go for a natural look or a more voluminous one. Our doctors will guide you in this process. The procedure takes only minutes to perform, and is carried out under local anaesthesia in the form of a cream. Slight bruising, swelling or tenderness at the injected site may occur occasionally although this will resolve in a few days.
Liquid Face Lift
The same fillers used for semi-permanent lip augmentation may also be used to improve facial wrinkles and folds. The result is instantaneous and produces a natural enhancement, gentle to your skin. With a series of light injections your skin is supported and flattened to give a smoother look. The whole procedure can be completed in about 60 minutes. Usually a combination of four different fillers is used during this procedure. Your face will look more bright and fresh, without having to undergo any surgical procedure.
Profhilo® has taken the beauty world by storm. This wonder treatment plumps and rejuvenates tired, dull and ageing skin giving you a luminous glow and completely natural looking results. Profhilo® (the first of its kind) is essentially a hyaluronic acid (HA) moisturiser, which when injected has the benefit of working from within giving you long-lasting results and younger looking skin. This is the ideal treatment for those over the age of 30, as this is when we start to lose a significant amount of collagen, elastin and HA.
WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body that is responsible for maintaining moisture within our skin. Profhilo® has been specially formulated to contain a unique level of synthetic HA which helps to encourage the production of collagen and elastin in the skin and when injected, it stimulates the skin’s natural synthesis of collagen.
HOW LONG DOES PROFHILO® LAST?
Profhilo® lasts in the skin for around 28 days. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slowly releasing hyaluronic acid. Within the first few weeks you will see intense hydration, glowing skin and fine lines can disappear! You skin will feel smoother and tighter.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE PROFHILO?
Profhilo is a skin booster, so to start with you should have 2 treatments 4-6 weeks apart, then once you see your results you could leave 3-6 months between each treatment after that.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
Profhilo® is most commonly used for the face and neck, but can also be used on the décolletage, arms, knees and back of the hands.
HOW IS PROFHILO® DIFFERENT TO DERMAL FILLER?
Dermal fillers will add volume to specific areas, used to enhanced specific areas of the face (e.g. lips and cheeks). In Profhilo, the HA injected is dispersed evenly throughout the face giving you an all-round plumped, firmer appearance.
DOES PROFHILO HURT?
The needle used is very small and the procedure is very quick. However you do have the option to have numbing cream applied before your treatment.
PROFHILO SIDE EFFECTS
Common side effects include temporary lumps lasting up to 72hrs, redness, swelling or bruising.
